Rep. Maloney Slams Financial CHOICE Act, Warns it Would Take U.S. Back to Pre-Financial Crisis Conditions

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), Ranking Member on the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities, and Investment, during today’s Committee on Financial Services full committee hearing, slammed the Republican-proposed Financial CHOICE Act which would repeal the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and roll back the important protections put in place after the financial crisis.

Simotas and Maloney Honor Queens Women at Annual Luncheon

WASHINGTON – To protect a major pristine ecosystem in the Northern Rockies that is currently under threat from logging and other industrial activities, Representative Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) and House Committee on Natural Resources Ranking Member Raúl Grijalva (AZ-3), along with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), introduced the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA) today in both the House and Senate. The bill would designate 23 million acres of America’s premiere road-less lands in five states; Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon and Washington, as permanent wilderness.

Maloney: President’s Budget Preview would leave New York’s Infrastructure in the Dust

New York, NY – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), a long time champion for investing in New York City’s infrastructure, expressed serious concerns about the proposed cuts to infrastructure investments in President Trump’s recent budget preview. On March 16, President Trump submitted to Congress his budget outline, or “skinny budget,” which proposed massive cuts to the Department of Transportation that will hamstring infrastructure projects across the country. His full budget is expected later this spring.

New York City’s and New York State’s disagreements with the Trump administration’s immigration policies were front and center at PS 234 in Astoria on Tuesday night.

Rep. Maloney Applauds Governor Cuomo’s New York State College Tuition Plan

Carolyn Maloney joined New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Secretary Hillary Clinton at LaGuardia College where the Governor signed into law the Excelsior Scholarship program, a first-in-the nation program to offer free tuition to all New York public colleges and universities for New York families earning up to $125,000 annually. Years of tuition increases have threatened to put higher education out of reach for many working-class families.
