Rep. Maloney Introduces Legislation to Reduce Gun Deaths, Make Guns Safer

WASHINGTON —In an effort to improve gun safety, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) has reintroduced The Handgun Trigger Safety Act,  forward-thinking legislation to use new and emerging technology to prevent gun deaths. The bill would promote the development of new “smart gun” technology that only allows an authorized user to fire a gun. It would also mandate that all newly manufactured handguns use this technology within five years, and that existing handguns be retrofitted with this technology within ten years.

Dem: ObamaCare repeal vote ‘an assault on working Americans’

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) on Saturday said the GOP's ObamaCare repeal plan is "an assault on working Americans."

"It'll remove over 24 million people who have healthcare now from the roles. It'll increase costs for Americans. It imposes an age tax and guts the protections of pre-existing conditions," Maloney told MSNBC.

Maloney said one of the pre-existing conditions she heard a lot about in her office was pregnancy.

"Many women could not get coverage or healthcare for the birth of a child because they had a pre-existing condition, pregnancy," she said.

Rep. Maloney Condemns Financial Services Committee Republicans’ Passage of Financial CHOICE Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), Ranking Member on the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities, and Investment, condemned Republican’s passage of the Financial CHOICE Act out of Committee today. The bill, should it become law, will repeal the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and roll back the important protections put in place after the financial crisis.

Reps. Maloney, Bilirakis and Payne, Jr. Introduce Legislation Calling on the U.K. to Return the Parthenon Marbles to Greece

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, Representative Gus Bilirakis (FL-12), Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, and Representative Donald Payne, Jr. (NJ-10)  today introduced a resolution calling on Great Britain to return the Parthenon Marbles to Greece. The Marbles were removed from Greece 200 years ago by Thomas Bruce, seventh Earl of Elgin and transported to Great Britain. The Marbles were part of a frieze that wrapped around the Temple of Athena.
