Inspiring the Next Generation: Maloney & Hochul Host The Future is Female Mentoring Day with Lower East Side Girls Club

NEW YORK—Today, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) and Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul hosted The Future is Female: Making a Difference in our Communities and in Congress with the Lower East Side Girls Club to highlight the importance of gender equality and discuss important initiatives to support women and girls, including state and federal Equal Rights Amendments, the establishment of a Smithsonian Women’s History Museum, and New York’s Women’s Agenda. 

Coins play role in cancer fight

Funding research to cure breast cancer is an important goal of the new Breast Cancer Awareness commemorative coin program.

At the launch ceremony March 15 in Washington, D.C., Rep. Carolyn Maloney said, “Not only will sales of these coins help spread awareness, they also have the potential to raise up to $8 million in private funds for breast cancer research without any cost to taxpayers. This coin program takes us another step closer to finding a cure.”

Maloney was a congressional co-sponsor who first introduced the commemorative legislation in Congress.

Maloney, Nadler, NY & NJ Members Voice Opposition to Helicopter Tourism

WASHINGTON, DC – Representatives Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) and Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), today led a group of their New York and New Jersey colleagues in voicing their continued opposition to helicopter tourism in light of the March 11 helicopter crash in New York City’s East River that killed five passengers. They are also asking for more information about the crash from the FAA and the NTSB who are conducting the investigation. Joining Reps. Maloney and Nadler on the letter were Donald M. Payne Jr. (NJ-10), Nydia M. Velazquez (NY-7), Albio Sires (NJ-8), Bill Pascrell Jr.

Maloney Praises Senate Passage of Bill to Combat Online Sex Trafficking

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Senate passed the bipartisan H.R. 1865, the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA), which includes an amendment added in the House to incorporate provisions of S. 1693, the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act (SESTA).
