Maloney, co-chair and co-founder of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, recently joined a bipartisan Congressional delegation to Cyprus where she met with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus Kathleen Doherty and Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides to discuss the status of reunification negotiations between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders  and opportunities for economic growth in the region presented by the discovery of offshore natural gas.

Rep. Maloney Celebrates One Year Anniversary of JVTA, Joins Bipartisan Call for Full Implementation

Today, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) joined Reps. Ann Wagner (MO-02), Judge Ted Poe (R-TX-02) and Joyce Beatty (D-OH-03), in a press conference celebrating the one-year anniversary of the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (JVTA) and to recognize that work still must be done to help victims of human trafficking. Rep. Maloney highlighted Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s history prosecuting sex trafficking cases in New York and called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to fully implement the JVTA of 2015.

Second Ave. subway on schedule: Maloney

U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Astoria) said the Second Avenue subway is more than 94 percent completed and on schedule to start running in December, but she recommended “guarded optimism since there is very little room for error” in the final months of construction.

The project could fall behind “if milestones are not met,” said Maloney, who issued a report card on the project that awarded an A-minus overall to the MTA for its performance.

Rep. Maloney Presses Federal Banking Agencies for Reassurances of U.S. Banking Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) requested information today from the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on what steps these agencies are taking in response to the recent cyber attacks involving the SWIFT financial messaging network resulting in the theft of millions of dollars.
