Reps. Maloney & Clay call for postal investigation into Census look-alike mailings sent by the Republican National Committee

WASHINGTON, DC – Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and Chairman of its Information Policy, Census and National Archives Subcommittee Wm. Lacy Clay (D-MO), today sent a letter to U.S. Postmaster General John E. Potter asking for an investigation of the latest wave of mailings closely resembling census documents sent by the Republican National Committee.

Reps. Maloney & Wilson call for hearings on access to basic banking services for Americans overseas

WASHINGTON, DC – Americans Abroad Caucus Co-Chairs, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) sent a letter to Chairman Barney Frank and Ranking Member Bachus of the Financial Services Committee, of which Rep. Maloney is a senior member, requesting a hearing to look at current U.S. banking laws and regulations that may prevent Americans living overseas from accessing U.S. banking services.

Maloney’s Website Once Again Catches a Gold Mouse Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the third time, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney’s website, http://maloney.house.gov, has been named one of the top websites on Capitol Hill -- garnering a prestigious Gold Mouse award from the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF), a non-profit, non-partisan management consulting and research organization. CMF analyzed the congressional websites of all House and Senate members, congressional committees (both majority and minority), and congressional leaders; only 21 House websites, including Maloney’s, were awarded the Gold Mouse. In addition, CMF gave a Silver Mouse award to the website of the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, which Maloney chairs.

Rep. Maloney to NY Small Businesses: Health Care Tax Credit Available Now

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan, Queens) urged eligible New York small businesses to take advantage a substantial new health care tax credit available this year, thanks to the health care reform bill approved by Congress and signed into law by President Obama. Small businesses that provide -or begin providing- health care to their employees, have fewer than 25 workers, and have less than $50,000 in average annual wages per employee are eligible for the credit. The maximum credit available under the new law is equal to 35% of employers’ health care costs – with the maximum amount rising to 50% by 2014.

Maloney-McCaskill law creating Federal contractor database takes effect Thursday

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Contracting Oversight, today hailed implementation of her law to create a single database with all relevant information about Federal contractors in one location to be used by government purchasing managers.
