WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), issued the following statement on learning of the death of Geraldine Ferraro today:
"I was profoundly saddened to learn today of the death of Geraldine Ferraro. With her passing, America has lost a great leader who was as wise as she was warm, a trailblazer who broke down barriers for women, and a mentor who opened the doors of possibility to many. For women everywhere, Geraldine Ferraro was a champion and a heroine.
“I am deeply saddened to learn that Jerusalem’s main bus station has been targeted by terrorism. My heart goes out to the families of the woman who was murdered and the dozens of others who have been injured, some seriously. This bomb was intended to harm civilians and was situated where it would cause maximum injury. I strongly condemn the perpetrators and I hope they will be brought to justice.

Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), principal author of the Credit CARD Act, and Louise Slaughter (D-NY), author of the law’s language aimed at curbing abuses aimed at those under 21 years of age, today released the following statement following a rule approved by the Federal Reserve that would require credit card issues to consider a consumer’s individual income before extending credit.
WASHINGTON, DC – Bipartisan legislation introduced in the House today by Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Ted Deutch (D-FL), and seven other original co-sponsors and by Sens. Charles Schumer (D-NY), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) and five other co-sponsors in the Senate would hold accountable those railroad companies who worked with the Nazis during World War II by making them subject to legal action in U.S. courts. More than 75,000 Jews and thousands of others, including U.S. POWs, were transported from France toward concentration camps by French railroad companies.
