Rep. Maloney Statement on House Passage of Hurricane Harvey Aid Package
WASHINGTON, DC – Following the House vote approving emergency aid for Hurricane Harvey relief, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) released the following statement:
“As someone who represents a district that was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy, I have a hard-earned appreciation and respect for what the survivors of Hurricane Harvey have been going through up to now and of the daunting challenge they face in rebuilding and recovering. That is why I wholeheartedly support this aid package and am proud of the House for doing the right thing and voting for the emergency funding Houston so desperately needs.
“The enormity of the economic impact that this kind of mass trauma can have and the toll it can take on people’s lives is hard to overstate. I hope the Senate will follow suit and quickly take up this bill and vote for this aid package so that we can get the needed funds to Houston as soon as possible.”
