WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), senior member of the Joint Economic Committee, issued the following response to February’s jobs report:

“With today’s encouraging jobs report, we have completed three consecutive months of gains over 200,000 jobs and 24 consecutive months of overall private-sector job gains. Just as important, many more people have entered the job market to seek work—explaining the unemployment rate holding steady at 8.3 percent, which is still down significantly over the last six months.

“This continuing good news should not lull those of us setting policy in Washington. We have a long way to go before we regain all the jobs lost in the recession that began in the last years of the Bush Administration. But with bipartisan effort, we can ensure that all American families feel the benefits of this recovery.”
