Rep. Maloney Recognizes the Conclusion of Women’s History Month 2020
New York, NY — Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), sponsor of H.R. 1980, the Smithsonian Women’s History Museum Act, released the following statement marking the end of Women’s History Month 2020.
“During the month of March, our nation comes together to recognize the incredible women who have shaped our country and our world. Women have been front and center in every moment of our history and we continue to push boundaries and break glass ceilings every day. I am inspired by these women and those who came before them each and every day and believe that our country should be, too. In textbooks, monuments and museums across the country, contributions of women throughout history are underrepresented. This is why I continue to share the stories of history makers through my #InspiredByHer series on social media.
“Women deserve more than just one month of recognition. For years I have championed the establishment of a comprehensive museum on the National Mall dedicated to telling the story of American women’s history. We are closer than ever to making this is a reality after the overwhelming bipartisan passage of H.R. 1980 in the House in February. I will continue to work to ensure this bill is passed by the Senate and signed into law because people of all ages deserve the opportunity to learn about and be inspired by the women who built this great country.”
