Rep. Maloney Condemns President’s Decision to Ban Transgender Americans from Serving in the Military
WASHINGTON, DC – In response to President Trump’s announcement that he will ban transgender Americans from serving in the U.S. military, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), member of the LGBT Equality Caucus, released the following statement:
“The President’s announcement that he will ban all transgender Americans from serving in this country’s armed forces is blatant discrimination and, frankly, un-American.
“This egregious action is a cruel affront to thousands of transgender personnel currently serving in our nation’s military. To top it off, the White House has declared this week to be American Heroes Week, yet with this decision, the President has disrespected countless veterans and current service members.”
