Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC—Following news reports that Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath during his confirmation hearings with the Senate Judiciary Committee, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), released the following statement:

“During his confirmation hearing with the Senate Judiciary Committee, then Senator Jeff Sessions, under penalty of perjury, said ‘I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.’ After numerous verified reports, we now know this statement to be false.

“Senator Sessions’ credibility to oversee the FBI investigation into ties between senior Trump officials and the Russians, and his capacity to serve as Attorney General are completely compromised. He should resign. There must be no question about the impartiality and integrity of the Attorney General.”
