Rep Maloney applauds Waters housing finance reform efforts
NEW YORK – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE), today released the following statement on Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Maxine Waters housing finance reform proposal:
“I applaud the efforts of Ranking Member Waters to craft a sorely needed legislative solution for our housing finance system. With more than twenty five percent of our economy at stake, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac still in conservatorship, and many Americans still unable to access mortgage credit, housing finance reform is essential.
“I’m particularly pleased that this proposal includes a comprehensive multifamily title that I helped develop with the Ranking Member. In New York City, multifamily housing is our single family housing, and it is critical that any housing finance reform effort increase affordable multifamily housing options.”
