Rep. Maloney Applauds NY-12 Based Company for Partnering with NYC to Rapidly Increase Manufacturing of Test Kits
NEW YORK, NY- Following Mayor de Blasio’s announcement that local manufacturers and NY-12 based company Print Parts have ramped up production of critical testing supplies to create 50,000 COVID-19 test kits per week, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) issued the following statement.
“Widespread testing is a necessary part of New York City’s COVID-19 recovery, and I am so pleased our city is partnering with Print Parts to rapidly increase production of critical testing supplies. The ingenuity, creativity, and strength of New Yorkers throughout this pandemic has helped us address unprecedented challenges and develop solutions that get us back on our feet. I am so proud that NY-12 is home to Print Parts, who are showing us every day what is means to be New York Strong.”
In coordination with NYC Health + Hospitals, the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is partnering with Manhattan-based Print Parts to produce swabs and with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx to produce transport medium.
Print Parts is producing 3D printed swabs based on a clinically validated design from EnvisionTec and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. It is expected to deliver 30,000 swabs at the end of this week and will ramp up to 50,000 a week in subsequent weeks.
