Maloney Votes No on Cruel ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017
WASHINGTON, DC—After voting against H.R. 620, the ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) released the following statement condemning House passage of this bill.
“This cruel legislation rolls back protections for Americans living with disabilities that were put in place 28 years ago when Congress passed the American Disabilities Act. It guts enforcement of the ADA by creating barriers for individuals with disabilities to file discrimination lawsuits, blurring the standard for compliance, and placing an unjust burden on victims seeking justice. I proudly voted against it and I sincerely hope it fails in the Senate.”
