Maloney Statement on Voting to Pass the Humanitarian Supplemental Bill

Press Release

“Like many Americans, I am horrified by the suffering inflicted upon children and families at the border. The humanitarian crisis created by the Trump Administration’s inhumane policies requires an extraordinary response. I voted for passage of the emergency supplemental funding bill because it delivers immediate help to the children currently being held in detention centers. The bill includes strict safeguards to make sure that the funding is used for things like food, water, sanitary items, and blankets, to restore and increase legal services for unaccompanied children, and to expedite placement of children in the care of sponsors in the U.S. I will be working with my colleagues to conduct diligent oversight to ensure these funds are dedicated to the urgent humanitarian needs of the migrants in U.S. custody.”
