Maloney Statement on Earth Day 2020
Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) today released the following statement in recognition of Earth Day.
“On this 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, we must recommit ourselves to environmental justice and combatting climate change. As the Trump Administration continues to roll back clean air and clean water protections and dismantle efforts we have made to save our planet, I believe that the United States must re-enter the Paris Agreement, that we must strengthen the protections put in place under the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, and that we must preserve the beautiful and irreplaceable natural lands across the country. I am the author of the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act which would protect 23 million acres of roadless wilderness from tax-payer subsidized logging and development. This bill, when first introduced, was the first to take an ecosystem approach to conservation. We must protect our Earth for future generations.”
