Maloney Praises Supreme Court Decision to Allow Case Against Newtown Gun Manufacturer to Proceed
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), author of seven different gun safety bills and member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, today released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled that a case against the manufacturer of the gun used in the Sandy Hook shooting could move forward.
“I think we can all agree that the survivors of and the families of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting deserve justice. And holding the manufacturer of the gun accountable – for their marketing practices and selling a weapon of war to the public seems like a good place to start. Nothing will ever bring back those lost on that horrific day in December 2012, but maybe holding people accountable will help us to prevent future violence. I hope this lawsuit gives some peace to the survivors and victims’ families.”
