Maloney Praises Committee Passage of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) issued the following statement after the House Committee on Education and Labor passed H.R. 2694 - Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.
“Too many pregnant workers throughout the country are still facing discrimination even though we have protections on the books. These employees are being forced out of their jobs and denied even the smallest of accommodations – like being able to carry a water bottle – that would allow them to continue working safely while pregnant. The rights of pregnant employees in the workplace should be clear and enforceable. That is what this bill will accomplish.
“I’m proud to be a long-time cosponsor of this bipartisan legislation and look forward to voting for it on the House floor.”
