Maloney Applauds Passage of 3 Month Extension to National Flood Insurance Program
WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12), member of the House Financial Services Committee, released the following statement applauding the House’s vote today approving a 3-month extension of the National Flood Insurance Program.
“I am very pleased that the House included a 3-month extension of the National Flood Insurance Program, which is critically important not only for New Yorkers, but also for the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. This 3-month extension will give Congress time to work on a long-term reauthorization of the NFIP that is bipartisan, comprehensive, and most importantly, keeps flood insurance affordable for homeowners. During this 3-month extension, I will continue to fight for reforms that make flood insurance more affordable in dense urban areas like New York City, and to ensure that homeowners receive the money they’re owed when their homes are flooded.”
