Maloney Applauds Appointment of Interim Director of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum
Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), author of the Smithsonian Women’s History Museum Act, today celebrated the Smithsonian’s announcement of Lisa Sasaki to serve as the Interim Director of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum (SAWHM).
“After more than two decades of working to pass legislation establishing a museum dedicated to American women’s history, it was finally signed into law in December. It is incredible to see the museum begin to come to fruition, and strong leadership will be essential to its success. I congratulate Lisa Sasaki on her appointment and look forward to working with her to ensure that the Museum has the support from Congress that it needs.”
According to the Smithsonian:
Lisa Sasaki, currently the Director of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center (APAC), will serve as the Interim Director of SAWHM. She has been with the Smithsonian Institution since 2016.
