Press Release

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) today released the following statement in reaction to news that the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund has authorized fully payments on over 1,000 Group A claims:

“Many hundreds of the survivors and responders who were injured in the aftermath of 9/11 are just now receiving full compensation through the Victim Compensation Fund. Many families were devastated economically as a result of health problems that occurred because of exposure at Ground Zero. It has taken more than a decade, but today the Victim Compensation Fund is fully funded, and heroes who were injured are being made whole again.

“Today’s announcement shows that important progress is being made, but we know that there are still many more who are waiting for the support they were promised. I thank all those working at the VCF for their dedication to processing and paying claims as quickly as possible, and all the survivors and responders who remained patient as this important work was completed. Today the VCF is moving full speed ahead. Those who were there and those who rushed in after 9/11 are finally being taken care of.”
