Press Release

Washington, DC — Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) issued the following statement on the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka:

“I am profoundly saddened to learn about the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, a giant in the labor movement and a tireless champion for the American worker and an economy based on shared prosperity. His legacy at the helm of our nation's largest federation of unions will not soon be forgotten by its 12.5 million members or any of us who have come to know him and worked alongside him. His dedication through the AFL-CIO as a longtime advocate of the World Trade Center Health Program are memories that I will keep with me in his absence.”

“My thoughts are with his wife, Barbara, their son, Richard Trumka Jr., and the entire Trumka family and their loved ones.”
