Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) released the following statement after the Census Bureau reported that they have, in fact, completed corrected block level data for all fifty states and after the judge in the City of Los Angles-led Census litigation set a March 30th hearing date:

The Census Bureau gave us good news today. They reported that, in fact, the Bureau has competed their work on correcting the 2000 census to the block level for all fifty States.

"It is a responsible act in the Bureau's tradition of openness and full disclosure.

"I plan to contact our nation's Governors and Mayors to let them know that this information exists and urge them to contact the Census Bureau so that they can get the complete, most accurate and inclusive data from Census 2000.

"The Census Bureau could save a lot of litigation if they would only release all of their data before the March 30th hearing date set by the Federal court in Los Angles."
