This morning the recovery continues as an all-hands-on-deck effort. The scale of the damage is daunting. Although some progress is being made, there is a need throughout the most affected areas of New York City for non-perishable food, water, and other items for those who cannot get out to buy supplies for themselves.

This Sunday, October 7th I will be hosting a town hall meeting at LaGuardia Community College focusing on the Obama Administration’s recent Immigration Deferred Action Program, with Special Guest Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-Illinois) who has been a passionate and outspoken proponent of immigration reform.

As you’ve heard by now, the Supreme Court upheld the individual mandate and most other major portions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in its ruling yesterday.
This is truly good news for a nation that needs it.

As the new year begins, so, too, does the second session of the 112th Congress. Eventually. In fact, the session will not begin until January 17-- and the House is only scheduled to be in session for a grand total of six days this month.
