Dear Friend,

Late last night, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced the latest in the Trump Administration’s  long string of actions meant to compromise and politicize the 2020 Census – he is adding a question about citizenship. I have been and will continue to fight this – the census is too important for political games.

This coming Wednesday, March 28 at 3:30pm I am hosting listening session at Eleanor Roosevelt High School on gun safety and gun violence prevention. Since February 14, when 17 innocent lives were taken in Parkland, FL, students all over the country have made their voices heard; on social media, in the news, and last week, by walking out of class. After this weekend’s March for Our Lives I wanted to create a space in which NY 12’s students could voice their concerns directly to me.

Dear Friend,

It’s been 9 days since 17 students and teachers were brutally murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. It’s been 9 days since they and their peers were attacked and brutalized in a place where everyone should feel safe. It’s been 9 days of survivors speaking out, of them begging us to act, and it’s been 9 days of Republicans in Congress remaining silent.

Yesterday, we witnessed a horrific massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. My heart breaks for each and every person affected by yesterday’s tragedy and I pray for the swift recovery of those injured and solace for those who lost loved ones.
