Today Was a Good Day
Today, House Republicans finally realized that the bill they proposed did not pass muster with the American people.
I am grateful, that at least for today, we were able to stop this bill from ripping away health insurance from 24 million Americans, increasing premiums and imposing an age tax on people over 50 years old. It would have also stripped away essential health benefits like maternity care and prescription drug coverage while also cutting off federal funding for Planned Parenthood. Fortunately, for today at least, that was too much for the House of Representatives, but this fight is far from over. Many of the Republicans who opposed this bill did so because it didn’t go far enough in cutting benefits and health protections.
Know that I will continue to do everything I can to protect the significant progress we have made in the last 7 years since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law by President Obama. Today was good day and I will use this energy as we move forward.
