WASHINGTON D.C. - On Friday, June 23, the House of Representatives voted down an amendment that included significant cuts in the Census Bureau's budget after Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D - Manhattan, Queens) led opposition to it. The amendment, which was introduced by Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC), failed by a vote of 145-223.

Violent crimes motivated by gender bias, race, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, disability, or national origin, are extremely unjust because they create a climate of fear that keeps a particular segment of society from participating fully and freely in society.

NEW YORK - Three federal grants totaling $800,000 were recently awarded to outstanding service organizations in the 14th Congressional District, represented by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D - Manhattan, Queens). The receiving organizations, the International Rescue Committee, the Department of Geriatrics/Adult Development at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and the Salvation Army of Greater New York are dedicated to improving conditions for the sick, the disadvantaged, and the homeless. Maloney (D-Manhattan, Queens) released a study revealing a whopping 150% price differential between prescriptions sold to humans on one hand and animals on another. WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), Dem. Chair of the Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues, along with Reps. Tom Davis (R-VA), Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) introduced the Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act of 2000. The bill provides six weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child for federal employees. Federal employees currently do not have the option of taking paid parental leave.
