Reps. Maloney, Rice slam Trump over Ford jab: 'This is a disgusting and ignorant take'
New York City-area Democratic Reps. Carolyn Maloney and Kathleen Rice are slamming President Donald Trump for suggesting that Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford would have filed a police report if the attempted sexual assault she claims happened is true.
Maloney, who represents parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and Rice, who represents parts of Nassau County on Long Island, took to Twitter Friday to slam the president's tweet.
Trump wrote, "I have no doubt that, if the attack on Dr. Ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately filed with local Law Enforcement Authorities by either her or her loving parents. I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!"
Rice didn't mince words, writing, "The majority of sexual assaults are never reported to the police. This is a disgusting and ignorant take - but not at all surprising coming from an admitted sexual predator."
And Maloney wrote, "It's no surprise that our President - a man w/ at least 19 allegations of sexual misconduct against him - would be utterly incapable of empathizing with the experiences of an alleged victim of sexual assault. The Senate must NOT stoop to his level #DelayTheVote."
