WASHINGTON, DC - The Department of Commerce, responding to a request from the Department of Homeland Security, entered into an agreement to provide the Mexican government access to U.S. Census Bureau data on the value of exports. Leading Democrats on the House Government Reform Committee are urging Commerce Secretary Don Evans, who authorized the data sharing, to halt the practice (PDF).
WASHINGTON, DC - Former President Bill Clinton, who turned 58 on August 19 and is currently recovering from heart surgery, was honored by a Congressional resolution marking his birthday that passed the U.S. House of Representative today (H Res 717). WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representatives Christopher Shays (R-CT), Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations, and Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) announced they will introduce the House version of the 9/11 Commission Report Implementation Act. In addition, Shays and Maloney announced that they will introduce a resolution to amend House rules, reorganizing Congressional oversight of intelligence and homeland security to make it more effective and efficient, as recommended by the 9/11 Commission.
