WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Representative Carolyn Maloney (D- NY), introduced a resolution in Congress today to honor the ASPCA on its 135th birthday.
Washington, D.C. - Protecting the interests of new mothers, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-14) introduced H.R. 285, The Breastfeeding Promotion Act to the 107th Congress. The act amends
the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to protect breastfeeding by new mothers, provides for a performance standard for breast pumps, and provides tax incentives to encourage breastfeeding.

Standing with New York seniors struggling to pay high heating bills, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney and US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced new legislation to increase annual funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) by an estimated $75-125 million per year. The bill, the Low-Income Energy Reinvestment Act, would direct a portion of the oil royalties paid to the federal government to the LIHEAP program, resulting $9-15 million in increased assistance for New York City alone.
NEW YORK: The U.S. Census Bureau, today, released data for New York State from the 2000 Census and, on the same day, explained that they completed work for all 50 states for corrected, block-by-block level data, but the Bush administration continues to block the release of the corrected data.
