Rep. Maloney Applauds U.S. HUD Announcement of Mortgage Relief for Homeowners Affected by Superstorm Sandy

NEW YORK, NY – On Friday morning, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (NY-12) joined U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan who leads President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force and Senator Charles E. Schumer for the announcement that homeowners with federally-backed mortgages who suffered damage to their homes as a result of Superstorm Sandy will be granted an extended forbearance.  When the current forbearance period expires at the end of this month, these families will be able to sign up for a streamlined mortgage modification that allows them to make manageable payments over the next year.

Reps. Maloney and Ros-Lehtinen introduce bill to give U.S. Holocaust survivors their day in court

WASHINGTON, DC - Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) have introduced the Holocaust Rail Justice Act, which would provide Holocaust survivors their day in court against SNCF, the French rail company that transported more than 75,000 Jews and thousands of others-- including U.S. air pilots—to concentration camps during World War II. Earlier this week people across the world recognized Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, in memory of those murdered by the Nazis.

Reps. Maloney, King & Van Hollen introduce resolution designating April as Parkinson’s Awareness Month

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Parkinson's Disease Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Peter King (R-NY), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) introduced a resolution designating April as Parkinson’s Awareness Month. The resolution calls for continued research to find better treatments, and eventually, a cure for the disease. It also thanks the dedicated national, state, and local organizations, volunteers, researchers, and millions of Americans across the country working to improve the quality of life of persons living with Parkinson’s disease and their families.
 

 

Rep. Maloney announces bill to help small businesses recover from disasters

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, announced at a Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee hearing today she plans to introduce a bill that would exempt loans from the credit union member business lending cap that are made after federally-declared natural disasters, injecting much-needed funds into local communities when they need it most.
