Rep. Maloney hails full restoration of services at Manhattan VA Hospital

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Representative Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) applauded the news that the 23rd Street Manhattan VA Hospital is fully operational after having suffered major flood damage during Superstorm Sandy.  For the past seven months, the hospital has been restoring services and reopening departments gradually, but today the facility announced completion of the first phase of its plan to repair the damages and will be able to provide regular services to its patients.  As part of the federal Sandy Relief package, the Manhattan VA will receive $207 million to repair and redesign the facility. 

Maloney presents federal grant funds to Laguardia Community College for Veterans Upward Bound program

Long Island City, NY – On Monday, U.S Representative Carolyn Maloney (NY-12) joined LaGuardia Community College President Gail Mellow and Veterans Upward Bound Director Samuel Farrell at LaGuardia’s Annual Week to Honor Veterans Luncheon to present over $1.24 million in federal funds for the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Program. LaGuardia’s program, the only one of its kind in New York State, provides educational and professional development for veterans who are preparing for post-secondary education and employment translating their military training to jobs training.
