89 House members send letter to President urging Elizabeth Warren be appointed to head Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Brad Miller (D-NC), and Keith Ellison (D-MN), members of the House Financial Services Committee, and 88 fellow House members today announced their  letter to President Obama urging that he appoint Elizabeth Warren, as a recess appointment if necessary, to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Maloney Salutes Armed Forces at Memorial Day Ceremony Aboard USS Intrepid

New York, NY – Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan, Queens) paid tribute to past and present members of our armed forces at a Memorial Day ceremony aboard the USS Intrepid.  Maloney joined U.S. Fleet Forces Commander Admiral John C. Harvey, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, and Intrepid Museum President Susan Marenoff to honor the sacrifices made by so many members of the American military to preserve our democracy.  A photo taken at yesterday’s ceremony of Rep. RFP Issued for Queens Seawall Repairs Maloney, Queens Leaders Applaud Parks Department for Beginning the Repair Process

Kew Gardens, NY – U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D Queens, Manhattan); Queens Borough President Helen Marshall; representatives of the offices of Senator Michael Gianaris, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer, and other elected officials; and Bishop Mitchell Taylor met this week with Parks Department Commissioner Adrian Benepe and other officials to press for expedited repairs to the Queens Seawall. 

Rep. Maloney Report: Thousands of Jobs to be Created by New Federal Rail Grant

Queens, NY –U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Queens, Manhattan), State Senator Michael Gianaris, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer, General Contractors Association Managing Director Denise Richardson, and Michael Murphy of Transportation Alternatives gathered today at the Sunnyside Rail Yards in Queens to issue a report outlining the thousands of jobs and other economic benefits that will be created through the new, $295 million federal high-speed rail grant to improve “Harold Interlocking,” a junction point in Sunnyside Yards through which trains from three major transit systems must pass on their way into and out of New York.  The grant will help relieve major delays at the junction that have plagued New York travelers for years and pave the way for high-speed rail from New York to Boston.
