WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), issued the following statement in reaction to today’s shooting at the Empire State Building:

“Yet another incident of random gun violence. Yet another statement of sympathy for the victims. The cycle of gun violence must stop. While we don't know the provenance of the weapon used outside the Empire State Building today, we do know that steps must be taken to curb the availability and prevalence of guns. That's why I've sponsored legislation that would make gun trafficking a federal crime. But until that and other needed legislation is passed, my thoughts and prayers go out to those wounded and killed today."
