Maloney calls for Elizabeth Warren to be named permanent Director of the new CFPB

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), ranking member of the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee, today called for Elizabeth Warren to be nominated permanent Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) at an oversight hearing of the subcommittee.

“You have been a champion for consumers and fair and balanced in your work,” Maloney said at the hearing. “I was pleased when President Obama appointed you Special Advisor to oversee the establishment of the CFPB and I hope he nominates you to be the Agency’s first permanent Director.”

The subcommittee’s hearing, titled “Oversight of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,” called as its only witness Mrs. Warren. The full remarks of Rep. Maloney are available here.
