Maloney and experts from The Sallie Mae Fund teamed up to present two workshops on Paying for College at Hunter College in Manhattan and at the American Museum of the Moving Image in Queens on September 18, 2004. At the Queens forum, Noumeir Sebastian Bermeo, a Queens resident and a student at Hunter College, was presented by Congresswoman Maloney and Sallie Mae officials with a check for $1,000 to be applied toward his college tuition expenses.
