Energy
Through out my time in Congress, I have been an advocate for national energy policies that increase energy independence, protect our environment, and use our natural resources responsibly. Development of renewable energy and energy efficiency measures are critical to meeting those goals. I will continue work with my colleagues on important initiatives including tax incentives for alternative energy, weatherization programs, and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
In the 111th Congress, I supported the Consolidated Land, Energy, and Aquatic Resources (CLEAR) Act (H.R. 3534) which would provide greater efficiency and accountability to the management and regulation of energy resources. An amendment that would require a study to improve the measurement of oil and natural gas extracted from leased federal and Tribal lands was included in the CLEAR Act as passed the House in July 2010. I will continue to support energy legislation that provides oversight to the management of our energy resources, mitigates future environmental risk, combats climate change, and creates clean energy jobs.
