Education
As a former educator, I understand the importance of a quality education. In Congress, I have fought fulfill the promise to fully fund the No Child Left Behind Act. I have also introduced legislation to ensure that we are investing in our children’s early education. Locally, I have worked to create new educational options for high schoolers and to relieve school overcrowding in lower grades. I co-chaired task forces that led to the creation of the Eleanor Roosevelt High School and PS 151, and I have worked with my colleagues in government for the creation of Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School, PS 78, PS 267 and the development of new facilities for other schools, including East Side Middle School which moved to its new building in 2010.
