Maloney-McCaskill law creating Federal contractor database takes effect Thursday

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Contracting Oversight, today hailed implementation of her law to create a single database with all relevant information about Federal contractors in one location to be used by government purchasing managers.

Mark Udall (D-CO) to bring transparency to the federal contracting process have been included in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009 (S. 3001), which passed the House of Representatives yesterday.  The bill is expected to be approved by the Senate and the president in the coming days.

Maloney Federal Contractor Oversight Bill Passes House

WASHINGTON, DC – The “Contractors and Federal Spending Accountability Act” (H.R. 3033), legislation introduced by Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) to create a comprehensive, centralized database that would more efficiently monitor the federal procurement system and help protect U.S. taxpayer dollars, passed the House today.  Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) also introduced the Senate companion of the bill today.  Currently, no central database exists to help procurement officials track fraudulent contractors who do business with the federal government.

Maloney Federal Procurement Oversight Bill Advances

Washington, DC – The “Contractors and Federal Spending Accountability Act” (H.R. 3033), legislation introduced by Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY) to create a comprehensive, centralized database that would more efficiently monitor the federal procurement system and help protect U.S. taxpayer dollars, advanced in the House today.  Currently, no central database exists to track fraudulent federal contractors and prevent them from continuing to do business with the federal government.  Maloney’s bill was marked-up and voted out of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.  The bill can now advance to the floor for a full House vote.
