REP. MALONEY ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR GIRLS SCOUTS OF THE USA’S FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM
Astoria, NY – Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-Queens & Manhattan) today announced that she had successfully secured $305,875 for the Girl Scouts of the USA’s Financial Literacy Program to create of a comprehensive, effective and universal initiative to help girls better manage their finances. Representative Maloney made the announcement at her District Office in Astoria, where she was joined by Denise Pesich, Vice President for Communications of the Girls Scouts of the USA (GSUSA); Pat Stensrud, Chair of the Girl Scouts of Greater New York; and area Girl Scout leaders and members from Troops 4192, 4566 and 4567 in western Queens.
REP. MALONEY HAILS FUNDING FOR SECOND AVE. SUBWAY, EAST SIDE ACCESS
New York, NY – Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan & Queens) today hailed the inclusion of $197 million for the Second Avenue Subway and $215 million for East Side Access in the Obama Administration’s proposed Fiscal Year 2011 Federal Transit Administration budget. Congresswoman Maloney has long championed the transit projects, which are both located almost entirely within New York’s 14th Congressional District that she represents.
Rep. Maloney Statement on House Passage of Federal Budget
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney released the following statement on this year’s federal budget, which passed the House yesterday by a vote of 233 to 196. The Senate approved its version of the budget yesterday, as well; a conference committee to resolve difference between the two bills will be scheduled for later this month.
